Recipes of the week: Breakfast

Hello there.

A couple of breakfast ideas for you. My breakfasts are generally savoury, unless I make a smoothie or pancakes. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I find it so nourishing and sustaining.

Soft boiled eggs with steamed asparagus and sweet potato, raw home made sauerkraut, rocket, coconut oil and celtic sea salt.
Soft scramble eggs with extra yolks in coconut oil, sprouted and steamed buckwheat, sauerkraut and celtic sea salt.

My home made coconut cream kefir. Yum!

  1. Wow! Thank you for the wonderful ideas!!
I personally prefer sweet breakfasts but I’m trying to eat more savory these days.
I also love saurkraut, but I haven’t made some myself yet. Do you have to have a big jar for it? I only have those small ones I bought…

I was also wondering why you add extra yolks? I’m just curious since all the other “health” bloggers prefer extra whites đŸ˜‰
    Thanks!!!

    • Hey Stephanie. Thanks for the comment! The jars I use to make sauerkraut have around a 750ml capacity. You could do bigger or smaller. I am going to do some posts on lacto-fermentation soon so I will post my recipe for it!
I add extra yolks because of the high concentration of certain nutrients compared to the white, particularly anti inflammatory omega 3’s DHA, B vitamins, minerals, fat soluble vitamins A,D,E and K. The white contains some minerals but does not contain any omega 3s or fat soluble vitamins. Here is a good article on the yolk. Cheers

  2. Beautiful food! Beautiful photograhpy! One word. Beautiful. Thanks for inspiration.

I’ve found organic oats with rice milk, probiotics yoghurt and blackberries to be a mainstay for me.

    Keep the recipes coming.
